Educational Philosophy
My decision to become a teacher was not merely because of wondering what job I would have as an adult. No, my reason for becoming an educator was because I feel I have something to offer students.
As a student myself, school at times, was challenging for me. I often did not use the most conventional methods when learning like other students. For this reason, I can keenly recognize and have empathy for the struggling learner.
My professional obligation requires me to create a risk free and knowledge rich environment. In the classroom, I make it my goal to focus on the facilitator part of my task and allow learning to be student centered and naturally driven. Students are just miniature adults. Like us, they too have unique interests which in turn drive their desire to learn. I like to think, create and model “outside the box.” Therefore, I invite my students to do the same.
All children are different with differing learning styles, learning pace, and interests. My primary job as their teacher is to embrace, respect and encourage their differences while nurturing their desires and ultimately allow learning to occur naturally. Personally, I believe all children CAN and DO learn. I make it my passion to instill in them the desire to become life long learners.
